Shura Council Collaborates with Watermelon Pictures to Screen “American Doctor” On Saturday, on September 5 th at the Frida Theater in Santa Ana, the Islamic Shura Council of Southern California collaborated with Watermelon Pictures to feature a special screening of “American Doctor”. The documentary follows three American physicians—Palestinian, Jewish, and Zoroastrian - who travel to Gaza on a medical mission to provide care to patients amid extraordinarily difficult circumstances. Through their first-hand experiences, the film explores the intersection of medicine, politics, humanity, and the ethical responsibilities of physicians working in conflict zones. This film brings their reality to the screen with honesty, courage, and humanity.  Alhamdulillah, more than 150 participants listened to a panel discussion moderated by Br. Saleem Shah of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), which reflected on the social, cultural, medical, and humanitarian issues raised by the film. Panelists were Dr. Ahmed Soboh, Dr. Ahmad Hussain, and Br. Omar Sabha (RN).
